BAKU, AZERBAIJAN – Following a statement released on Saturday, the Republic of Azerbaijan has decided to ban all airing of the hit series “The Mandalorian” available on Disney +, until further notice.
According to a tweet from the head of foreign relations Hikmet Hajiyev, the series would “praise Armenian terrorism”.
A “barbaric provocation”, supposedly showing “Armenian control on Hollywood-Sodom”.
Commentators fail to see how the series, which launched its second season with great success, has any connection with the conflict with Armenia. No one so far has been able to determine with certainty the reason for the sudden ban.
There could be THAT ONE reason, but it’s too absurd…
The conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, two republics in the Caucasus, isn’t new. A few weeks ago, Azerbaijani President Aliyev surprised everyone by demanding an apology from Kim Kardashian “for being more famous than Azerbaijan”.
